Lenox Hill Town House

Studio Valle de Valle · New York, NY

Lenox Hill Town House by Studio Valle de Valle

Studio Valle de Valle reimagines a historic Lenox Hill town house with architectural scale and a quietly radical approach to mid-century curation. Honeyed oak panelling framing double-height windows sets a warm, tailored foundation for a low-slung seating arrangement anchored by a generous Mario Bellini modular sofa for B&B Italia, set over a golden shag carpet. At its centre, a pair of Gianfranco Frattini Kyoto lattice coffee tables for Pierluigi Ghianda (1974) bring Japanese-influenced joinery, with an Isamu Noguchi Akari UF3-Q floor light drawing the eye to the glass above.

Tactile textures against refined Parisian-style moulding: a rounded Jean Royère Oeuf chair in bouclé beside a plush velvet sofa, an Eric Schmitt coffee table for Liaigre, and a monumental historic tapestry above.
In the bedroom, tailored upholstery meets collectible design: a floating oak nightstand, a 1960s chrome Clio sconce by Sergio Mazza for Artemide and a vintage club chair in the corner.

In the reception room, the studio orchestrates French mid-century design against historic moulding. A Pierre Paulin Alpha living room set in off-white bouclé is arranged around Pierre Chapo's interlocking T22 oak coffee table. A teak file rack by Pierre Jeanneret adds utilitarian warmth, while a Double Flower floor lamp by Olivier Mourgue for Disderot rises between the arched French doors.

In the dining room, Italian post-modernism meets tactile vintage detail: an Angelo Mangiarotti Eros marble dining table from the 1970s, vintage French chairs reupholstered in Dedar's Tiger Mountain in Graphite, and a brass and crystal palm frond chandelier beneath exposed beams.
The entrance: an Art Deco console by Hugues Chevalier with a row of Anja Notini ceramic urns, beneath an emerald glazed earthenware mirror, against limestone walls and checkerboard stone floors.
